Top 10 Gardens in the World...lets go there with me
start Count Down...
A garden is a planned out space specifically for plants and other forms
of nature. They are usually set outdoors and can have man-made and
natural materials. Gardens are a great place to relax and have some nice
family time. You could even hang out with your friends or plan a
picnic. I am very fond of gardens and even though I have not had many
chances to visit the following, I would really love to. This particular
list talks about the top ten gardens in the world. Be sure to visit the
whenever you are in the area, I know I will. Enjoy the read!
10. RYOAN-JI
Ryaon-Ji is a temple in Japan and it is famous for the Zen Garden. It
is considered to be one of the best examples of dry-landscape style. It
is also considered as the only greatest piece of Japanese culture. The
temple is surrounded by low walls and it is unknown exactly who laid the
garden out. There is a stone washbasin behind the garden. It is called
Tsukubai and is said to be a gift from Tokugawa Mitsukuni in the
seventeenth century. It bears an inscription; ‘I learn only to be
contented’.
9. MINNEAPOLIS SCULPTURE GARDEN
This garden is one of the best landmarks in Minnesota, United States.
Claes Oldenburg and his wife Coosje van Bruggen were asked to design a
fountain-sculpture for this particular garden. If you are aware with his
style, he uses a spoon in many of his sculptures and that spoon
appeared in a huge size in this particular design. It was the theme of
the entire garden. He topped the spoon off with a cherry on top
literally. The cherry comes from the dining etiquette of Louis XIV and
that is what the cherry imposes.
8. SHALIMAR GARDEN
Mughal emperor Shah Jahan created this garden in the city of Lahore
in Pakistan. The construction of this particular garden began in 1641
A.D and was completed a year later. The garden is laid out in the form
of a parallelogram and it is surrounded by a high brick wall. It is
famous for the fretwork that was incorporated into the construction.
These gardens were incorporated as UNESCO World Heritage Site in the
year 1981 including the Lahore Fort.
7. YUYUAN GARDEN
This particular garden is said to have been built during the Mind
Dynasty in China more than four hundred years ago. It is built in a very
traditional Chinese style. There are many rocks, trees and ponds in the
area along with dragon-lined walls. Many a times during the past four
hundred years, this garden has been shut down for restoration and
reopened again. After the downfall of the Pan’s family, the garden was
deteriorating but it was soon restored by the local rich people and
later the city government.
6. BUTCHART GARDENS
The Butchart Gardens are located in Canada and are one of the most
famous ones in the world. They are situated in British Columbia and they
are simply breathtaking. The gardens spread over an area of around 50
acres. These gardens are always full of colors and never in a full year
is the garden ever dull. That brings many visitors to this garden from
all around the world. You can visit in absolutely any season and they
will be at their prime.
5. JARDIM BOTANICO DE CURITIBA
This garden is located in the biggest city of Southern Brazil,
Parana. A part of the University of Parana’s campus is housed by the
garden. It opened up in the year 1991. The gardens mimic the style of
French gardens. The main greenhouse spans across an area of 458 meters.
The garden covers a total area of around 240 square meters. There is
also a Botanic Museum which serves as a reference to the different
collection of flora. It attracts researchers from all around the world
and contains many species from the Atlantic Forests of Brazil.
4. VERSAILLES
I am sure there is no need to introduce this particular place in
France. This is perhaps the most famous garden in the entire world. The
garden was designed for Louis XIV. It was designed for him by Andre Le
Notre. You will see countless flowerbeds, the Orangerie, the fountains
and a Canal. A lot of earth had to be shifted to make room for these
particular amenities. Wheelbarrows were used to transport earth by
thousands of men. It was a lot of work but it was definitely worth it.
3. SUAN NONG NOOCH
The Suan Nong Nooch can be found in Pattaya, Thailand. It offers
amazing landscapes and stunning views. It is nothing short of a garden
in some grand fairy-tale. You will see a lot of houses built in a
traditional Thai style, villas, halls and restaurants, even swimming
pools. A large land of around 600 acres was bought by Mr. Pisit and Mrs.
Nongnooch in the year 1954. It was predicted that it will be a site for
fruit plantation but they sure proved it wrong. It is a tropical garden
of ornamental plants and flowers.
2. KEUKENHOF GARDENS
A lot of floral displays in countless varieties can be found in
Keukenhof gardens in the Netherlands. It is perhaps one of the most
popular tourist destinations in The Netherlands. It is home to around 7
million tulips and that includes rare hybrids and that have specially
been developed. It also features the Russian black tulip Baba Yaga, and
that is the pride of the entire garden.
1. THE GARDEN OF COSMIC SPECULATION
The garden of cosmic speculation is in Scotland. Interestingly
enough, the garden is inspired from science and math. Now, I don’t know
how that happened but that is the popular belief. It was set by Charles
Jencks with his wife Maggie Keswick. It is located near Dumfries. The
garden was set up in 1989. The mere design of the garden makes you
wonder. It is actually really interesting, I have no clue how Mr. Jencks
and his wife actually came up with this idea. Oh, but this settles the
dispute, math and science can actually be used for something as
beautiful as this place.
enjoy friends.....
